How to require an open cash register to accept payments

If your team forgets to open the till and the day's closing never adds up, Jarbas can block sales until a cash register is open.

How to turn it on

Configurations › Payment Options › Require open cash register

Only admin users can switch it on or off.

What gets blocked

With the requirement on and no cash register open, Jarbas prevents:

  • Starting a sale on the sales screen.
  • Taking payment on an order.
  • Taking payment on a Financial entry.
  • Taking payment into a customer's account.

Instead of the normal screen you get the notice "You must open a cash register to make a sale" (or "…to make a payment"), with an Open Cash Register button.

How to unblock

Tap Open Cash Register right there in the notice and enter the opening amount.

If you're an admin, the notice also shows the or disable the requirement shortcut, which takes you straight to the setting.

Is it worth it?

Turn it on if you close the till every day and need the numbers to match. Leave it off if you use Jarbas on your own and don't run a cash register — otherwise you'll be blocking your own sales.
