How to edit the price or apply a discount on a single item of the sale

You can change the price or apply a discount to one specific product in the cart, without touching the product record and without affecting the rest of the sale.

Where the options are

In the cart, each item has a row of buttons: quantity, Unit (the price), Discount and notes.

Changing the price for this sale only

  1. Tap the price button, labelled Unit.
  2. Type the new price on the keypad.
  3. Tap Confirm.

The screen itself says: "The value of this product will be edited only for that sale." The product's price in your catalogue stays the same.

If you have permission to manage products, this screen also lets you adjust the item's Cost Price — useful when that particular unit came in at a different cost. That's the cost Jarbas uses to work out the profit on the sale.

Applying a discount to the item

  1. Tap the item's Discount button.
  2. Choose Value (a money discount) or Percent.
  3. Type the discount.
  4. Tap Apply Discount.

As you type, the screen shows the Previous total struck through, the New total, and the discount both ways — as money and as a percentage.

To remove the discount, open the screen again and tap the clear icon at the top.

Discount on the item or on the total?

  • On the item: when the reduction belongs to one product. It's itemised on that line.
  • On the total: when it's a general reduction on the sale. That's the cart's discount button, not the item's.

If the buttons are greyed out

Price and discount depend on permissions. If you see "You don't have permission to do this action", ask an admin to turn on, under Users:

  • Edit price in cart — to change the price.
  • Discount sales — to apply discounts.
