How to make the customer mandatory on every order

How to make the customer mandatory on every order

By default, Jarbas lets you close a sale without saying who bought it. If your business needs to know, turn this lock on.

How to turn it on

  1. Go to Configurations › Orders and Sales.
  2. Turn on the Require Customer switch.

"Require the customer to be selected when placing an order"

Done. There's no save button.

What changes

When you try to complete an order with no customer selected, the warning "Customer is required" appears and the order won't go through.

It applies on both sales screens: the full order and the POS, at the point of moving to payment.

To carry on, just tap Select Customer and pick one — or register the customer on the spot.

When it's worth turning on

If you sell on credit or in instalments. This one isn't a matter of taste: no customer, nobody to collect from.

If you deliver. The address comes from the customer record.

If you want to know who buys what. Per-customer stats, average ticket and the "customers who haven't bought in 60 days" filter only work with identified orders. A sale with no customer shows up in none of those reports.

When not to turn it on

Counter trade with a queue — bakery, snack bar, market stall. Stopping to pick a customer on every two-dollar sale slows service down and fills your database with people who came by once.

If you only want records for some customers, leave the switch off and select the customer when it makes sense.
